Real Madrid’s transfer planning for the coming seasons is already well underway, and once again, the club’s scouting department appears to be looking beyond Spain for solutions.

According to a recent report from TalkSport, the Spanish giants are closely tracking Wesley Franca, a dynamic wing-back currently playing in Serie A with AS Roma.

The interest is not random. Real Madrid have been made aware that their growing focus on Wesley is fully justified following his impressive start to life in Italian football.

At just 22 years of age, the Brazilian has adapted quickly to the demands of Serie A, contributing three goals in his first 13 league appearances and playing a key role in Roma’s strong domestic momentum.

Wesley’s rise has been steady rather than sudden. Before making the move to Europe, he caught attention while representing Flamengo, particularly during the Club World Cup.

That form earned him a move to Roma and, soon after, his first senior appearance for Brazil earlier this year.

Barcelona are keeping an eye too

Reports suggest that Real Madrid are not alone in monitoring his progress. FC Barcelona are also believed to be following Wesley’s development closely.

His ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch fits the modern profile that top clubs are seeking in full-backs.

From a Real Madrid perspective, the interest makes complete sense, as they are facing uncertainty on the right side of defence.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, who arrived amid huge expectations, is currently sidelined with an ankle injury and is not expected to return until next year.

That setback follows an earlier hamstring problem that already kept him out for six weeks, raising concerns about reliability.

At the same time, Dani Carvajal is in the latter stages of his career. While still respected in the dressing room, the club is aware that planning for the future is essential if standards are to remain high.

While no formal move has been made, Los Blancos are watching closely, and if his upward trajectory continues, this could be a name that dominates transfer discussions sooner rather than later.
