Real Madrid are continuing to monitor midfield reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window, and one name that refuses to disappear from their shortlist is Rodri of Manchester City.

The Spanish international is widely regarded as one of the most complete midfielders in world football, although, despite Real Madrid’s admiration, the situation is far from straightforward.

At this stage, the potential move is more of a calculated possibility than an active operation.

This is because there are multiple conditions to the deal, and each one presents its own complication.

The first major obstacle lies with Manchester City. The Premier League champions are keen to secure Rodri’s long-term future and would prefer to renew his contract rather than entertain offers.

This alone makes any immediate breakthrough difficult.

What is Real Madrid’s position?

Beyond that, Real Madrid are not willing to enter negotiations blindly.

As per Defensa Central, the club has outlined a clear framework under which they would consider moving forward, and a crucial part of that involves the player himself.

For Real Madrid to make a move, they expect Rodri to play an active role in facilitating the transfer.

In practical terms, this means convincing City to open the door for negotiations, something that would require significant intent from the midfielder.

Financially, despite Rodri’s quality, Madrid are not prepared to engage in an inflated bidding war.

Internally, there is a belief that any deal must remain within a reasonable range, taking into account factors such as age, contract situation, and fitness.

In that regard, a fee in the region of €40-50 million is viewed as the upper limit.

Another key aspect under consideration is his physical condition.

Madrid are reportedly taking a careful approach when it comes to evaluating the state of Rodri’s knee, which has troubled him earlier in the season.

Simply put, while Rodri remains an ideal candidate to strengthen the midfield, the club is fully aware of the complexities involved.
