Real Madrid continue to prepare for the future, with defensive reinforcements high on their agenda.

As reported before, the club’s main focus remains Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate, whose current contract runs out at the end of the season.

However, it is also known that Liverpool are pushing hard to renew his deal, and that leaves Madrid with no choice but to consider other names.

Hence, according to Real Madrid Confidencial, if Konate decides to stay in England, Real Madrid will look towards Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven.

The Dutchman has impressed in the Premier League, and scouts from Madrid have been monitoring his progress closely.

The club does not want to risk a repeat of past cases, such as Alphonso Davies, where deals that looked certain collapsed at the final stage.

For that reason, the management is determined to keep a “Plan B” ready.

Reports have confirmed that Van de Ven is firmly on Real Madrid’s radar. At just 24 years old, he already shows the speed, strength and composure needed to fit into a top side like Madrid.

Alongside rising talent such as Dean Huijsen, he could give the backline more depth and stability for years to come.

But signing him will not be cheap, as Van de Ven’s current contract with Tottenham runs until the summer of 2029.

Because of that, Spurs have reportedly set an asking price of €70 million. That figure may force Real Madrid to think carefully before making a move, especially since Konate is still the first choice.

In the end, the outcome will depend on Konate’s decision at Liverpool. If the Frenchman signs a new deal, Micky van de Ven could become the player Real Madrid turn to.
