Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal’s recent remarks accusing Real Madrid of “stealing and complaining” have not gone unnoticed in the white dressing room.

As already reported, the comments have been perceived as ‘disrespectful’ by the Merengues, and club captain Dani Carvajal plans to speak with the teenager after Sunday’s El Clasico to clear the air.

Building on that, MARCA now reports that within Real Madrid’s locker room, Lamine’s words have been received with a mix of fatigue and frustration, with the squad said to be ‘fed up’ with the Barcelona rising star.

The general feeling is that Yamal is seen as “a bad teammate”, whose behaviour off the pitch has started to wear thin among Real Madrid players.

Within the Madrid camp, there is confusion over the Barça No. 10’s statements, especially coming just days before the Clasico at the Bernabeu.

Players also point to the contradiction of such claims in light of the ongoing Negreira case, which documents Barcelona’s payments to the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) for nearly two decades.

Added motivation

For the Real Madrid squad, the Spanish international’s words add further motivation ahead of a match they already had marked in red.

The four defeats suffered against Barcelona last season have not been forgotten at Valdebebas, and the comments have only reinforced the team’s determination.

Players believe that Yamal, regardless of his youth, fails to respect the basic codes of conduct between professionals.

This is not the first time Real Madrid players have noticed such behaviour from the Barcelona academy graduate. In that sense, his latest comments have come as little surprise, although they were widely discussed during Friday’s training session at Valdebebas.

The remarks have caused clear discomfort within a dressing room that now intends to use them as fuel for Sunday’s crucial match – one that can decide the top spot in La Liga.
