The board at La Liga giants Real Madrid have touched base with the entourage of a headline member of the summer transfer wishlist at arch rivals Barcelona.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Joan García as the player in question.

Goalkeeper Joan is of course a man in demand ahead of the summer. Fresh off a brilliant individual campaign on the books of Espanyol, the 24-year-old is being eyed by a whole host of clubs from across the continent.

To date, Barcelona have been the club pushed as the most likely to strike a deal for Joan, amid an ongoing search for a replacement for Marc-André ter Stegen.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, the Blaugrana could yet be rivalled in the Joan sweepstakes by none other than Real Madrid.

As per a report from AS, in the knowledge that Andriy Lunin could yet be on the move this summer:

‘Another club that has positioned itself for Joan in recent days: Real Madrid There has been contact with the goalkeeper’s entourage. So Joan is clear that, from Chamartín, they’re still keeping an eye on him. They’re not losing track of him.’
