Real Madrid: Mastantuono’s future uncertain

Franco Mastantuono’s situation at Real Madrid is raising questions. Having arrived last summer from River Plate for €45 million, the young Argentine could already be packing his bags—at least temporarily.

A starter at the beginning of the season under Xabi Alonso, the 18-year-old forward has seen his playing time drop since Álvaro Arbeloa took over. Used less frequently and often left on the bench, he’s going through a tough spell. With just one goal in 16 La Liga matches and a recent sending off against Getafe CF, the past few weeks have been challenging for him.

The Madrid management is now considering a loan move to help him get more minutes elsewhere. Under contract until 2031, Mastantuono remains a key part of Real’s long-term project. But in the short term, a temporary departure is looking more and more likely.
