According to a recent report from Fichajes, Real Madrid are prepared to spend up to €150 million to strengthen their defence with the signings of William Saliba and Ibrahima Konate.
With Dean Huijsen already viewed as the foundation of their next-generation backline, the club’s vision of a powerful three-man defensive unit is starting to take shape under Xabi Alonso.
The Real Madrid board believes both Saliba and Konate are ideal fits for their future tactical plans, which revolve around a back three supported by wing-backs.
In Konate’s case, Madrid see an opening. The French international has a contract with Liverpool that runs until 2026, but no extension has been agreed yet.
This gives Madrid two options: either submit a bid in the region of €50 million this summer or wait until his contract runs down and sign him for free.

Saliba’s situation is more complex. The Arsenal defender is under contract until 2027, meaning any move would demand a massive fee, likely close to €100 million.
Still, Florentino Perez sees Saliba as a vital piece of the puzzle and is ready to push for his signing, even if it means a record investment.
Real Madrid’s long-term vision under Xabi Alonso is becoming clear. The club is planning to shift towards a three-centre-back formation, with attacking wing-backs, namely Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alvaro Carreras.
With Huijsen already in the picture, adding Konate and Saliba would give the team a backline capable of dominating both defensively and in build-up play.
This project is not just about names, it is about preparing for the future. Real Madrid are making a calculated move to stay ahead of the curve, and the foundation of their next great era might just begin with three world-class defenders.
