According to an update shared by Sacha Tavolieri, Real Madrid have now reached a full agreement with Jose Mourinho regarding a sensational return to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The journalist claims the current Benfica coach is now set to become the next Real Madrid manager, with an official announcement expected to arrive next week.

For several weeks, Mourinho has increasingly emerged as the leading candidate to replace Alvaro Arbeloa following another deeply disappointing season for the Spanish giants.

Within the club, there is a growing belief that Real Madrid need a manager capable of immediately restoring authority, competitiveness and discipline within a dressing room that has looked fractured throughout the campaign.

That search has naturally pushed Mourinho to the front of the queue.

What’s the story?

The Portuguese coach remains hugely respected in Madrid for the mentality and intensity he brought during his previous spell at the club. 

With supporters frustrated by the current lack of leadership inside the squad, many now view Mourinho as the ideal figure to rebuild the team’s mentality heading into a crucial new era.

Until recently, reports suggested discussions between both parties remained at an early stage, with initial contact taking place between Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes and Real Madrid representatives.

However, the latest update from Tavolieri indicates the situation has now progressed significantly.

According to the journalist, an agreement has already been reached between Mourinho and Real Madrid, paving the way for one of the most dramatic managerial returns in recent football history.

Notably, from next weekend onwards, Real Madrid are expected to have a limited window of around 10 days to complete the operation without facing a major compensation cost. 

This is because Mourinho’s current deal with Benfica includes a clause allowing him to leave for just €3 million during the ten days following Benfica’s final match of the season.

That clause could significantly simplify negotiations and accelerate the process behind the scenes.

Real Madrid’s urgency is understandable given the atmosphere currently surrounding the club. 

After a campaign filled with inconsistency, dressing room tensions and growing supporter frustration, there is a strong feeling that immediate change is required before the situation worsens further.
