Real Madrid appear to be moving swiftly in the transfer market lately, having accelerated their pursuit of key defensive targets.
It was reported yesterday that Ibrahima Konate is all set to join the ranks at Santiago Bernabeu, having reached a preliminary agreement with Los Blancos over a free transfer.
It has also been reported that Denzel Dumfries is close to joining Real Madrid, with the Dutchman emerging as the club’s number one target in the left-back position.

According to El Chiringuito, Dumfries has already agreed personal terms with Real Madrid and is set to sign a three-year contract.
The agreement was reached on Tuesday afternoon and it appears Real Madrid have received the approval of Jose Mourinho for the transfer.
The Portuguese tactician is running short of reliable options at left-back and would welcome the arrival of a seasoned operator like Dumfries.

With an agreement already reached and Mourinho giving his approval as well, the onus is now on Real Madrid to finalise an agreement with Inter Milan.
Unlike in the Konate case, the club must reach terms with Inter as well, given that Dumfries is contracted to the Italian club until 2028.
The Dutch international does have a €25 million release clause embedded in his contract. It is now up to Real Madrid to decide whether or not they want to match that or negotiate a lower fee with Inter.
If Real Madrid are willing to pay €25 million, they can afford to skip the entire negotiation process and possibly sign the player ahead of the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
