Real Madrid are growing increasingly confident that they can restart contract renewal talks with Vinicius Jr. this month, following a major shift behind the scenes.

According to a recent report from Cadena SER, the club believes the conditions are now right to move forward with negotiations that had previously stalled.

The report explains that the departure of Xabi Alonso has removed the biggest internal obstacle to Vinicius’ renewal.

Throughout the season, the Brazilian winger’s relationship with the former coach was visibly strained.

A series of substitutions and unexpected spells on the bench gradually led Vinicius to feel that his importance within the project was being questioned.

That tension had a direct impact on Real Madrid’s long-term planning, as uncertainty grew around the future of one of the club’s most valuable and marketable players.

While Vinicius never publicly expressed a desire to leave, the lack of clarity made progress on a new deal difficult.

With Alonso no longer at the club, Real Madrid believe that the situation has changed completely

There is a strong understanding that Vinicius wants to stay at Real Madrid and continue building his legacy.

In fact, the club now feel they can approach the talks with a far more positive atmosphere.

That optimism is also linked to the current sporting direction, as Alvaro Arbeloa is expected to give Vinicius a central role in the team.

This renewed trust is seen as a key factor in convincing the Brazilian that Madrid remains the right place for him.

So what next?

Real Madrid are realistic about the timeline, as they do not expect the new contract to be signed before the end of the season.

However, they believe January is the right moment to formally reopen discussions with the player’s representatives, laying the groundwork for a deal that can be finalised once the campaign concludes.

If talks progress as expected in the coming weeks, the club is confident the renewal will eventually be signed.
