Leading members of the board at La Liga giants Real Madrid have not yet ruled out the possibility of bringing Manchester City star Rodri to the club this summer.
This comes despite the surprise stance laid out by Florentino Pérez regarding the midfielder over recent months.
Rodri, for his part, is of course fresh off a spectacular campaign at the World Cup. En route to Spain lifting just a 2nd world title in the country’s storied history, the former Ballon d’Or winner proved himself the heartbeat of Luis de la Fuente’s XI.
Such excellence has given rise to a fresh round of La Liga transfer links, amid the understanding that Rodri himself is keen on pulling on the colours of Real Madrid.
Any such transfer has been labelled as highly unlikely for some time now, after Blancos president Florentino Pérez made clear behind the scenes that the 30-year-old does not feature in his vision for the club.
But as alluded to above, this stance is yet to deter other members of the boardroom at the Santiago Bernabéu.
As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto:
‘At Real Madrid, they are internally reconsidering Rodri’s situation. After his stellar World Cup, a portion of the board is pressing to reach an agreement with the Spanish midfielder, who is showing himself to be completely open to returning to Spain, which has always been his priority.’
