La Fabrica has been Real Madrid’s primary means of generating revenue from player sales in recent seasons, and the club have done largely well to ensure they get good terms on the deals.

The men in white have managed to earn decent transfer fees off their Castilla stars and retain part of the ownership, either in the form of partial rights or a buy-back clause conveniently priced.

In a summer filled with big signings and first-team reinforcements, the administration once again see the academy and Castilla side as their source for sales. The Athletic bring to light an important development on that front.

Castill captain set to leave

Indeed, as relayed by the English outlet, highly-rated young talent Manuel Angel is set to leave Real Madrid this summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been regarded as one of the academy’s highest-rated prospects for a long time now, so much so that he even captained the Castilla side last season.

In fact, his strong performances for the subsidiary team even earned him some valuable minutes with the Real Madrid first team.

Now, however, he sees a dead-end in his career progression and is set to leave, although his destination still remains unknown.

Newly promoted side interested

As relayed earlier this week, newly-promoted La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna are looking for new signings who can play as starters next season. They are thus interested in signing Angel as they saw him as a valuable midfield profile.

There is no indication at the moment that they are leading the race to sign him, but their strong interest in the player hints that the player could see a move there favourably.

Further, Deportivo La Coruna are also said to be interested in Cesar Palacios, and could well thus make a stunning double swoop from the Real Madrid academy.

What remains to be seen at this point is the means of the departure and what Real Madrid’s stance is on the development.

It is highly likely that they will retain some control over Angel’s future, but it is unclear if they see a loan departure favourably or a permanent departure with a buy-back clause.

In four league appearances for Los Blancos last season, the 22-year-old completed 90% of his passes and made 1.5 recoveries per game. The sample size of his numbers at the elite level, however, is very small.
