According to a recent report from Defensa Central, Villarreal have emerged as the latest club to show concrete interest in Andriy Lunin, with enquiries already made to Real Madrid regarding a possible transfer.
The report claims that Villarreal have even explored the possibility of a move during the winter transfer window.
However, Real Madrid’s position is clear that they are not looking to sell the Ukrainian.
In fact, they would only consider letting him go if two conditions are met. Firstly, the player explicitly asks to leave and secondly, a proposal worth more than €10 million arrives at the table.
Lunin’s situation at the Santiago Bernabeu has been a delicate one for some time.
Despite proving his quality whenever called upon, opportunities have been limited due to the continued brilliance of Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgian remains one of the best goalkeepers, making it extremely difficult for anyone to displace him.
As a result, Lunin has had to show patience, professionalism and total commitment to the club.
Notably, interest in the goalkeeper has not been short. Several clubs across Europe see him as a goalkeeper capable of delivering both immediate impact and long-term stability.
Even so, Lunin has consistently placed Real Madrid at the top of his priorities. He has long held the ambition of one day becoming the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, when Courtois eventually moves on.
Real Madrid, for their part, have handled the situation with respect and transparency. When Lunin signed his contract extension until 2030, there was a clear understanding between both parties.
The club assured him that if, at any point, he felt the need to leave in search of regular minutes, they would listen to reasonable offers and would not block his path. This promise still stands today.
