Real Madrid may be running out of patience with Ferland Mendy.
According to Fichajes, the club is considering letting the French left-back go in 2026 if he cannot stay fit for the rest of the season.
It must be noted that Mendy has finally returned to training after more than six months out, but his comeback to competitive football is far from certain.
The 30-year-old was sidelined after suffering a tear in his right quadriceps during the Copa del Rey final earlier this year.
This injury kept him out for nearly 170 days. While he has rejoined group training, he is not ready for match action yet.
Real Madrid are proceeding carefully to avoid a relapse, knowing it could affect both Mendy’s confidence and the squad’s rhythm.

Since joining Real Madrid in 2019, Mendy has faced 17 injuries, missed 112 matches, and spent over 626 days on the sidelines. These numbers show why the coaching staff are cautious about his return.
When healthy, his defensive performances at left-back have been excellent, but consistency has always been a problem due to his recurring injuries.
Under Xabi Alonso, Mendy is no longer the automatic choice at left-back. Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia currently lead the rotation.
Alonso’s focus is on carefully managing Mendy’s minutes, helping him regain match fitness, and testing whether his body can handle a full season.
The Frenchman’s future depends on his ability to stay healthy and perform consistently. If injuries persist or he fails to earn playing time, Real Madrid could release him next summer.
Conversely, if he regains form, he could still increase his value within the club or on the transfer market.
