Real Madrid set for UCL showdown with former manager José Mourinho | OneFootball

La Liga giants Real Madrid will soon lock horns with one of the club’s most famed former managers.

The tactician in question? José Mourinho.

Coaching icon Mourinho is for his part all set for an imminent return to the touchline.

After recently bringing an end to his time on the books of Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahçe, the Portuguese is primed for a return to his home country.

This comes with an agreement understood to be in place between ‘Mou’ and Liga Portugal heavyweights Benfica.

And keeping a close eye on these developments, as alluded to above, will no doubt be those behind the scenes at Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are scheduled to face off with Benfica as part of the Champions League’s league phase in January of 2026.

And awaiting Xabi Alonso’s troops in Lisbon will be an altogether familiar face, with Mourinho no doubt keen to put his former employers to the sword amid efforts to oversee his new club’s passage to the Champions League knockout rounds.
