Inter Milan star Petar Sucic has emerged as one of the Croatian players attracting attention after an impressive World Cup campaign.

The 22-year-old midfielder is now being linked with several major European clubs, including Real Madrid.

Indeed, according to Croatian newspaper Vecernji (h/t Mundo Deportivo), the Spanish giants are among the teams closely monitoring Sucic’s progress, while a number of Premier League clubs are also keeping a close eye on the midfielder.

Inter would demand a significant fee

The report claims that Inter Milan would be prepared to consider offers in the region of €50-60 million if they were to sell the Croatian international.

Such a fee would represent a substantial profit for the Italian club, who signed Sucic from Dinamo Zagreb last summer for €15 million.

The 22-year-old star remains under contract with Inter until 2030, placing the Serie A club in a strong negotiating position should interest continue to grow.

During his first season in Italy, the midfielder made 50 appearances, scoring four goals and providing four assists, playing his part in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A triumph.

Sucic started three of Croatia’s four matches at the World Cup, scoring and assisting one goal apiece.

Real Madrid want a new midfielder

As has already been widely reported, incoming Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is intent on adding a new midfielder to the squad.

While Bernardo Silva has been signed, the Portuguese tactician remains keen on bringing in another player who can provide control and creativity from the centre.

It has given ways to links with players such as Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea, for whom Los Blancos have already ruled out a move.

Ayyoub Bouaddi, a breakout star at the ongoing World Cup, is also a target, but is expected to cost around €100 million.

Sucic, in that regard, could be a cost-effective alternative for Real Madrid.

After all, his performances at both club and international level over the past year have been impressive, and he could be available for half the fee someone like Enzo would have commanded.

However, before Real Madrid make any move in the market, they will need to sanction a few departures from the squad after having already signed four new players.
