Real Madrid are preparing to finalise a major contract extension for one of their rising stars, Diego Aguado, according to MARCA.
The promising centre-back will turn 18 on February 7th, and the club is set to mark this milestone with a new long-term deal.
The agreement will not only include a significant salary increase but also a release clause surpassing €50 million, providing the young defender with substantial protection as he continues his development at the club.
Aguado is considered one of the most promising defensive prospects emerging from Real Madrid’s youth academy, La Fabrica. His performances have caught the attention of Davide Ancelotti, who views him as a key player for the future.
Aguado has already participated in several first-team training sessions, earned call-ups, and even made his debut as a starter in the Copa del Rey against Deportiva Minera on January 6th.
The club has finalised all terms for Aguado’s renewal, which will become official once he turns 18 on Friday. This move demonstrates Real Madrid’s commitment to securing their top youth talents and building a strong defensive foundation from within the club.
Interestingly, alongside Aguado, the club is also closely monitoring other promising defenders, including Asencio, Joan Martinez, Jacobo Raman, Mario Rivas, Lamini Fati, and Víctor Valdepenas.
The intention is to develop a new generation of centre-backs without needing to look outside Valdebebas.
Martinez, another standout defensive prospect, is expected to follow a similar path. Ancelotti had already given him opportunities last summer before he suffered a serious knee injury just before the season began.
By investing in these young defenders, Real Madrid are taking strategic steps to ensure long-term stability in their backline, demonstrating confidence in their academy system and the future of Spanish football.
