Even as plans to improve the first-team squad take shape, Real Madrid are continuing their work of strengthening the club youth ranks across all age groups.
The Merengues have already secured the signings of several exciting prospects such as Fran Santamaria and Sergio Castellon, among others, and are on the verge of bringing in Atletico Madrid prodigy Victor Correa.
Now, according to Rodra of ESPN, Real Madrid have moved to secure the signing of highly-rated forward Manu Navarro from the academy of Real Betis.
The 16-year-old striker, who is also an international with the Spain U16 national team, is regarded as one of the most promising talents in Betis’ academy.
Born in 2010, he has been the top scorer for the club’s Cadete A side and a standout performer in the lower ranks, where he had been developing since his early years.
He has been a regular presence in Spain’s youth national teams and has recorded 23 goals in 20 matches this season with Betis’ top cadet side, emerging as the leading scorer in the Cadete Division de Honor in Andalusia.
However, his absence from recent matches with Betis had already suggested a likely departure, with Real Madrid now confirmed to be swooping in.
Real Madrid had already recruited from Betis’ academy recently with the signing of youth defender Dario Perez, and have now strengthened their intake with another key prospect from the same youth setup.
Navarro is set to sign his first professional contract with Real Madrid after leaving Betis, where he had been playing since the Alevin category.
