It has been a busy summer so far for Real Madrid, who have already confirmed the arrival of four new players. Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva have joined new head coach Jose Mourinho’s squad for the 2026-27 season, and there should be more to come over the next two months.
There are plans for one more centre-back to arrive, while the possible arrival of Michael Olise has also been floated. On top of this, another midfielder is wanted, with Mourinho’s preference being Chelsea and Argentina star Enzo Fernandez.
Fernandez is a player that Real Madrid have had on their radar for almost four years. They wanted to sign him prior to his Chelsea move in the winter of 2023, but now could be the time that they get their man – especially as they have already agreed personal terms with him.
Despite this, Marca have reported that there are no plans to make an immediate move for Fernandez. Real Madrid consider themselves to have done the vast majority of their incoming business, and while it is not ruled out that the Chelsea man is sought, it will not happen anytime soon.
If Real Madrid are to sign Fernandez this summer, it has been reported that Chelsea would want as much as €140m in order to give the green light to a sale. The likelihood is that a figure closer to €120m would probably be enough, but even so, it is a lot of money for a player that does not appear to fix the problems that have plagued Los Blancos in the centre of the park since Toni Kroos retired two years ago.
Nevertheless, it’ll be interesting to see whether Fernandez is sought, although there is unlikely to be movement for a few weeks at least.
