Real Madrid starlet Arda Güler sent a crystal clear message to manager Carlo Ancelotti and his coaching staff, courtesy of his performance against Leganés.
Real, of course, kicked the club’s campaign back into gear a short time ago.
After seeing table-topping Barcelona drop two points at Celta Vigo on Saturday, Los Blancos made the trip to Leganés, in the knowledge that a victory would catapult them back firmly into the title race.
And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what Ancelotti’s side managed.
Owing to goals on the part of Kylian Mbappé, Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid emerged on the right side of a 3-0 scoreline.
A number of the reigning Spanish champions’ stars impressed along the way, from Raúl Asencio at the back to Bellingham in midfield and goalscorer Mbappé up top.
Over the course of the 90 minutes, though, none conjured up more moments of individual quality than the aforementioned Arda Güler.
Afforded a rare start in an inverted role on the right, the Turkish international dazzled, producing numerous brilliant runs and pieces of skill.
Most crucially, though, was the fact that Güler combined superbly with his teammates, slotting seamlessly into Real’s frontline.
And as much could not have come at a better time…
With Los Merengues’ squad ravaged by injuries, and Carlo Ancelotti no doubt desperate for some of his less-seen stars to step up, Güler did precisely that, and more.
The 19-year-old, amid what has proven another hit-and-miss start to the campaign, sent a clear message to his manager: ‘I’m here, and I’m ready to contribute’.
