Real Madrid star Federico Valverde has on Wednesday been made aware of the extent of his La Liga ban.

This of course comes after the Uruguayan was sent for an early bath during this past weekend’s Madrid Derby.

Valverde played a leading role in Real ultimately emerging triumphant over city rivals Atlético, netting his latest goal amid a stellar recent individual stretch of form.

Late in the action at the Bernabéu, however, the 27-year-old was shown a straight red card.

Valverde was responsible for a heavy challenge on Álex Baena, with referee José Luis Munuera having shown little hesitation in producing a red.

Los Blancos’ staff and players were left bemused by the decision, adamant that a yellow card would have been sufficient.

But the sending off stood, leaving the Spanish disciplinary committee with a call to make regarding Valverde’s punishment.

And as alluded to above, on Wednesday, the results of as much have been revealed.

As per a report from COPE:

‘The Competition Committee has imposed a one-match suspension on Fede Valverde following his sending-off in last Sunday’s Madrid derby.’

The midfielder will therefore be unavailable for selection for Real Madrid’s La Liga clash with RCD Mallorca on April 4th.
