Real Madrid star to be left out of World Cup | OneFootball

A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is set to be omitted from his country’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.

This comes amid the understanding that Franco Mastantuono will not be part of Argentina’s efforts to retain their status as world champions.

Youngster Mastantuono is of course fresh off something of an underwhelming debut campaign in Spain’s capital.

After arriving from Argentina last summer with lofty expectations on his shoulders, the 18-year-old struggled to establish himself as a prominent figure in Real Madrid’s first-team ranks.

All told, owing to a combination of fitness problems and competition for places, Mastantuono notched just 11 La Liga starts, notching a solitary goal along the way.

And as alluded to above, such woes look set to cost the starlet dear on the international front.

As per a report from TyC Sports, cited by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Argentina national team boss Lionel Scaloni has made the call not to include Mastantuono in his setup for the upcoming World Cup.
