Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois is facing up to a spell of around two weeks on the sidelines.
This comes as a result of the injury suffered by the goalkeeper during Los Blancos’ meeting with Rayo Vallecano.
Xabi Alonso’s troops were of course back in action on Sunday evening, making the short trip to Vallecas for a La Liga clash.
And en route to an eventual goalless stalemate, no.1 Courtois suffered a setback on the fitness front.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms on Monday:
‘Following tests carried out today on our player Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the long abductor muscle in his right leg. His recovery will be assessed.’
So, just how long is Courtois expected to be out of action?
As per a report from Blancos journalist Melchor Ruiz of COPE, the former Chelsea man has been ruled out of Belgium’s two fixtures over the coming week.
The expectation is that Courtois, all told, will be on the treatment table for around two weeks.
