Gonzalo Garcia has had a roller-coaster ride since his breakthrough at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup last summer.

After finishing the tournament as the top goalscorer, the youngster was immediately inculcated into Real Madrid’s first team.

Since then, he has featured in nearly 1,200 minutes of footballing action, often playing a bit-part role and primarily serving as a backup for Kylian Mbappe.

In a recent interaction with RTVE (h/t Madrid Xtra), Garcia, who turned 22 years old today, was asked about his wishes on both club and country levels.

In response, the youngster admitted he wants to win the Champions League as well as the La Liga with Real Madrid.

“Wish with Real Madrid? Winning La Liga and the Champions League,” he said.

“My wish with the Spanish NT? To go to the World Cup,” Gonzalo added.

Garcia can realise his dream this season as Real Madrid are alive in both competitions, although the team will have to punch above their weight in order to achieve the goal.

In La Liga, Real Madrid are trailing Barcelona by four points, while in the Champions League, Los Blancos have been pitted against the high-performing Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.

On a country level, Garcia wants to play for Spain in a World Cup, although the likelihood of him being a part of the upcoming one remains muted.

In his latest roster for Spain for the upcoming international break, coach Luis de la Fuente has opted to go with the likes of Ferran Torres, Borja Iglesias and Mikel Oyarzabal.

While Garcia has featured for Spain at youth levels, he is yet to win an international break. He is unlikely to do so unless he becomes a more important player at Real Madrid.

But with competition from Mbappe and Endrick next season, it is unlikely the Spaniard would become a permanent fixture in the Real Madrid team anytime soon.

Gonzalo, nevertheless, will patiently wait this summer as he could emerge as a potential beneficiary should any of the Spanish frontmen get injured this summer.
