Real Madrid are weighing up the possibility of signing a new centre-back in the summer transfer window, considering that they have had problems with injuries in the position.

There is also the added concern of Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba being in their thirties and not getting any younger.

So, despite the emergence of Raul Asencio and the likes of Jacobo Ramon and Joan Martinez also waiting in the wings, it is not ruled out that an established defender is signed in the summer.

Castello Lukeba on the agenda

To that end, Castello Lukeba of RB Leipzig has been touted as a target for Real Madrid, with the French youngster making big strides in his time in Bundesliga.

Now, according to Christian Falk (h/t AS), Lukeba is a man in demand heading into the summer window. Being aware of this, RB Leipzig will demand a transfer fee in excess of €60 million for him.

Apart from Real Madrid, the 22-year-old centre-half is also attracting serious interest from the Premier League.

Clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool are all seeking to sign Lukeba, who is considered among the best young centre-backs in Europe.

Lukeba signed a new contract with RB Leipzig last year, extending his stay at the Bundesliga club until 2029.

But with interest in the youngster growing, there is a strong likelihood that he could be on the move come summer.

However, clubs wanting to sign him will have to shell out in excess of €60 million, which might dissuade Real Madrid, who backed out of a deal for Leny Yoro last summer because of the transfer fee demands.
