Real Madrid have announced three signings already this summer transfer window: Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate and Bernardo Silva.
One other player whose signing the club have wrapped up is Denzel Dumfries, who is set to join Los Blancos from Inter Milan.
Although the deal has been done for some time now, the Spanish giants have still not announced it officially.
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are expected to announce Denzel Dumfries after 1 July, with the delay linked to financial planning rather than any problem with the transfer.
The club will pay the €20 million release clause, but the official announcement has been pushed into the next financial year.
The reason is straightforward. Clubs close the 2025/26 financial year on 30 June. If Dumfries is announced after that date, the cost of the transfer will count towards the 2026/27 accounts.

That means the €20 million fee, the amortisation of the deal and part of the player’s salary will not be included in the current season’s books.
Even when the transfer fee is not huge by modern standards, the accounting structure can affect the squad cost limit controlled by La Liga.
Earlier, it was revealed that Dumfries had requested Real Madrid not to announce his transfer until after the World Cup, but now it seems like the delay is due to accounting reasons.
Dumfries makes sense for Mourinho. He brings power, experience, aerial strength and direct running from right-back.
At 30, he is not a future prospect, but he has the quality to hold down the right flank for Los Blancos for at least two seasons, if not three.

His profile is different from a more technical full-back.
He gives the team physicality, verticality and a strong presence in both boxes, which can be useful in matches where Madrid need more force on the right side.
Dumfries has started the 2026 FIFA World Cup on a bright note, contributing to his team’s cause against both Sweden and Tunisia.
This delay in the Madrid transfer is not something to worry about. Such hold-ups are common in the modern game, and this is just a case of manoeuvring the finances.
The announcement may be waiting until July, but the plan is clear. Dumfries is expected to become part of Mourinho’s new Real Madrid, and there is no doubt that he will have an important role.
