According to a recent report from Defensa Central, one name that has caught the club’s attention as part of their defensive reinforcement is Werder Bremen’s Karim Coulibaly.
While there is trust in current options and a steady flow of talent from the academy, the club is still actively exploring the market for a centre-back who can evolve into a long-term leader.
In that regard, 18-year-old Coulibaly has emerged as a potential target for Real Madrid.
As per the outlet, the young defender has impressed Real Madrid’s scouting network with a profile that fits perfectly into their recruitment model.
He is young, physically dominant, and comfortable competing at a high level.
Despite his age, he has already taken important steps in his development, including earning recognition at an international level with Germany’s under-21 setup.
What makes him particularly attractive is his versatility. A natural left-footer, he brings balance to the defensive line and can operate across multiple roles.
Whether deployed on the left side of central defence, shifting to the right, or even stepping into midfield when required, his adaptability gives tactical flexibility.

Physically, he fits the mould of a modern elite defender. Standing well over 1.90 metres, he combines strength with mobility, making him effective both in aerial battles and in open play.
Interestingly, his situation at Werder Bremen could accelerate a potential move.
The Bundesliga club is currently battling in the lower end of the Bundesliga table, and that uncertainty has opened the door to speculation.
For a player with growing ambitions, the opportunity to compete at a bigger stage could be difficult to ignore.
From Bremen’s perspective, he is under contract until 2029, which gives them significant leverage.
Although his estimated market value sits around €22m, the asking price is expected to be much higher, potentially reaching €50m.
And demand is exactly what Real Madrid will have to contend with, as several major European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Marseille, are all tracking his progress closely.
