After bidding an emotional farewell to Real Madrid, Lucas Vazquez is now weighing up his next move.

The 34-year-old winger, who spent 16 years at the Santiago Bernabeu and won countless titles, is not ready to hang up his boots just yet. And according to AS, his next destination could be a return to his roots.

Over the weekend, Deportivo de La Coruna’s top officials met with Lucas Vazquez for dinner to discuss the possibility of him joining the club.

The meeting took place on Saturday night and included Juan Carlos Escotet, the club’s president, Massimo Benassi, the general manager, and Fernando Soriano, the sporting director.

The three executives shared Deportivo’s vision with Vazquez, explaining the club’s current project and their ambitions to return to La Liga’s top flight.

Deportivo dream of a homecoming for Lucas Vazquez

For Deportivo, signing the Real Madrid icon would be more than just a sporting move. The club is looking to continue its growth, and bringing in a local star like Vazquez, who was born in A Coruna, perfectly aligns with their values.

The idea is to build a squad that can compete for promotion while keeping the club’s identity intact.

Deportivo are aware that they cannot match the lucrative offers he is likely receiving from abroad, including from Juventus and Milan.

Reports suggest there are clubs ready to offer him massive contracts, far beyond what Deportivo can afford.

However, what the Spainsh can offer is something unique, which is a chance for Vazquez to return home, play for his hometown club, and help lead them back to the top division of Spanish football.

For now, Vazquez is taking time to consider his options. But if sentiment plays a role in his decision, a move to Deportivo de La Coruna could soon become a reality.
