The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid are ready to launch an appeal, to have any punishment handed down to star winger Vinícius Jr. for his recent red card overturned.

That’s according to Marca, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

Real Madrid of course kicked their endeavours for 2025 into gear with a comeback victory away to Valencia on Friday night.

The aforementioned Vinícius Jr, for his part, featured from the off in the clash, but was forced to watch on from the dressing room as his teammates turned things around.

This comes after the Brazilian was shown a straight red card, for directing his hands into the head/neck of Valencia no.1 Stole Dimitrievski.

After it was initially suggested that Vini could be facing up to a ban in excess of four games for his actions, more recent reports have pointed towards a likely two-game suspension.

And yet, even as much would be firmly contested by the board at the Santiago Bernabéu.

As per a report from Marca:

‘The sanction will be judged on Tuesday but Real Madrid want to revoke the expulsion. The allegations they are preparing are in that direction. They will talk about the prior provocation, the misuse of the VAR, the writing of the report…’

It now remains to be seen if such endeavours on the part of the Spanish champions prove to be successful.
