Heading into the summer transfer window, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr.

Even though Los Blancos insist that the 24-year-old Brazilian superstar is not for sale, he continues to attract strong interest from Saudi Arabia, who are prepared to break all sorts of transfer records to lure the winger away from Spain.

There have been talks of a new contract for Vinicius at Real Madrid but at this point, an exit remains very much on the table, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Real Madrid to move for Haaland if Vini leaves

As per the same report, if Vinicius Jr. were to join a Saudi Arabian club, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland would become Real Madrid’s main transfer target.

The journalist states that several executives and agents from the Bundesliga and across Europe, who are directly or indirectly connected to Real Madrid, are aware that Saudi Arabia still dream of Vinicius and believe they can pull off an unprecedented deal to sign him.

Should that end up happening, Real Madrid plan to go all out for Haaland – a player that has been on the Merengues’ radars for years now.

Given that the partnership of Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe has not worked as expected, there may be a line of thought that the prolific Manchester City striker could be a better tactical fit to play alongside the French megastar.

Haaland, for his part, signed a new long-term contract with the Premier League champions recently, committing his future to the club until 2034.

As such, a deal for the Norwegian goal machine will be extremely difficult to pull off and would command an astronomical transfer fee, as Manchester City will not give up on their superstar easily.

For now, the situation remains hypothetical and would rely on several other transfers falling into place, but one thing is clear – Saudi Arabia are not giving up on the Vinicius dream.
