The Spanish national team continue to win important battles both on and off the pitch, and the latest success comes in the form of two promising Real Madrid youngsters choosing to commit their international futures to Spain rather than Morocco.
According to an update from MARCA, Real Madrid academy talents Rachad Fettal and Thiago Pitarch have both been called up to Spain’s U-20 squad for the France training camp, giving La Roja the upper hand in a tug-of-war that Morocco had been closely monitoring.
It is no secret that Morocco have been keeping a keen eye on standout players within Spain, particularly those with heritage that could qualify them for their national side.
Both Fettal and Pitarch fit this profile, yet Spain have managed to secure their commitment for now.
For Fettal, this call-up comes after what can only be described as a breakthrough summer. The midfielder arrived at Castilla from Almeria in a deal worth close to €900,000, and he has wasted little time in making an impression.

His pre-season performances were nothing short of spectacular, leaving coaches and fans convinced that Madrid have secured a gem for the future.
As for Pitarch, his situation has also been one of intrigue. Eligible to play for Morocco through his grandfather, there had been doubts over which direction his international career might take.
However, the young midfielder has made it clear that his path lies with Spain. Speaking after a previous call-up from the youth team, Pitarch expressed his pride in representing La Roja.
What makes this story even more significant for Real Madrid is that Pitarch is tipped to play an increasingly important role under Xabi Alonso this season.
With both Pitarch and Fettal on the rise, Spain can celebrate the fact that their future midfield could be shaped by players groomed at Real Madrid.
