Vitinha’s name has widely been circulated by the Spanish media in recent weeks, with the PSG star being labelled as Real Madrid’s ‘dream’ signing in midfield.

After all, there is a growing sense of dissatisfaction with the team’s lack of leadership in the middle of the park, and many see Vitinha as a possible solution, given his form, fitness, and experience.

Despite the club’s rumoured interest, however, it has always remained clear that the transfer is difficult, if not impossible, given the financial requirements and the broken trust between Real Madrid and PSG.

Vitinha’s idols

Speaking to MARCA in a recent interview, the PSG midfielder and winner of the Best Midfielder Award at the recent Globe Soccer Awards was asked about his role models in the game.

His answer, unsurprisingly, featured two of world football’s finest ever, and one of them was a Real Madrid legend who featured for the club until earlier this year.

“Luka Modric and Andres Iniesta are my idols,” he said.

His decision to choose the duo shows how highly Vitinha rates the Spanish league and comes as a positive sign for Real Madrid in his pursuit.

After all, they can use the Modric card to convince the player should the need arise.

The big hurdle, however, is PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who is furious with Real Madrid after the Kylian Mbappe saga and has decided not to negotiate with Los Blancos under any condition.

So far this season, Vitinha has played 15 games and started 13 times for PSG in the Ligue 1.

He has racked up a goal and six assists in that duration with an average of 1.4 key passes per game. Further, he completes 94% of his passes and 67% of his attempted dribbles.
