Real Sociedad activate option to sign Kazunari Kita from Kyoto Sanga | OneFootball

Real Sociedad have exercised their option to buy Japanese centre-back Kazunari Kita, paying 1.5 million euros to Kyoto Sanga a day before the preferential clause expired. According to Diario Vasco, the move was completed on Tuesday, making him a permanent signing.

Kita has signed until 2030 and will remain with Sanse for now. He could feature for the first team depending on Pellegrino Matarazzo’s needs.

In his first campaign outside his homeland, the 20-year-old impressed in the demanding Segunda División. Ansotegi regularly paired him with Beitia at the heart of the defence.

After a slow start he settled quickly at Zubieta, becoming a key figure. He played 31 matches, totalling 2,384 minutes, and received a first-team call-up against Atlético de Madrid in Matarazzo’s first game in charge.

Kita is a tall left-footed centre-back, around 190 centimetres, and is comfortable playing out from the back. Left-footed central defenders are scarce and often command higher fees. For Real Sociedad the outlay is modest and backs a player with significant room to grow.
