Aritz bade farewell at Anoeta as captain, assisting Aihen for the opener in Real Sociedad’s ratings against Valencia.
As reported by AS, Remiro made one fine save after the break in an otherwise quiet display. Zubeldia grew into his first start since injury, while the relaxed mood did little for Jon Martín. Marín stood out at wing-back, his pass forced a Valencia own goal.
Aihen started and struck early to put La Real briefly ahead. Zakharyan began brightly, starting the 1-0 move and showing neat control, then faded and was booked before going off. Turrientes struggled to take charge and also saw yellow.
Soler produced a very poor display, finding the run-in difficult after being one of Matarazzo’s key players. Brais may have played his final minutes as txuri-urdin and could not impose himself before going off in the second half.
Óskarsson delivered another strong outing, heavily involved and on the scoresheet, and might have had more, then left on 73 minutes to an ovation. Oyarzabal’s presence told, La Real came from behind and he cut back for the third. Sergio Gómez, recently a new father, came on shortly before 2-2 and tried to add from the left.
Sucic offered good minutes and was close to scoring. Guedes had time to sign off at Anoeta after a good season, but wasted a fine chance by squaring to Turrientes. Aramburu came on so Aritz could take the acclaim.
