Real Sociedad’s Tuesday at Zubieta brought updates between Seville sides. Positive news saw Igor Zubeldia, Iñaki Rupérez and Jon Karrikaburu return to full training with those who did not start on Monday at the Sánchez Pizjuán. Less encouraging, Gonçalo Guedes is still nursing the ankle sprain from the 18 April final and did not train.
Diario Vasco reports Pablo Marín, Beñat Turrientes and Sergio Gómez, plus others, ended the Sevilla match with heavy knocks but hope to face Betis on Saturday.
Rupérez’s return was the most heartening sight after a season lost to a meniscus injury, later surgery and infection. He looks unlikely to play before the campaign ends, but finishing with the group should help next season.
Zubeldia was injured against Villarreal on 20 March and has been out about a month and a half, missing the last six, including the Copa final. Karrikaburu sprained an ankle in his first minute under Matarazzo against Getafe on 22 April.
The team keenly miss Guedes, who has not featured since he helped decide the cup final by winning a penalty and supplying an assist despite a double injury. He will try to train on Thursday, the squad’s next session. If he can work with the group without discomfort, he might face Betis.
Players logging more than 45 minutes at Sevilla did recovery work. In the main session was Gorrotxategi, who played only the first half and emerged unscathed from a fierce Isaac challenge that did not even draw a yellow.
