Chelsea captain Reece James is set to miss several weeks after picking up another hamstring injury.

According to journalists Simon Johnson and Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, the defender is likely to miss most of the remainder of the season – something that manager Liam Rosenior is expected to confirm in his press conference later today.

James has had rotten luck with injuries in recent seasons, in particular with recurring hamstring issues that have seriously hampered his playing time.

So far this season, the 26-year-old has featured 36 times for the Blues – his highest number of appearances since the 2021/22 campaign.

That means the Blues will be without their key player for the big second-leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain tomorrow evening and potentially until big games later in this season including the visit of both Manchester City and Manchester United as Chelsea fight for Champions League football.

The news will also put James's 2026 World Cup at risk should he not recover in time to make Thomas Tuchel's squad.
