Abdullah Al-Shehri will take charge of Al-Nassr v Al-Najma on Friday in round 27 at Al-Awal Park, after the Saudi Roshen League Association announced the day’s referee appointments.

He will be assisted by Saad Al-Shabrami and Hassan Al-Salam, with Abdullah Al-Owaidan as fourth official. Raed Al-Zahrani is VAR, assisted by Mufarrah Al-Hassan.

Al-Shehri has already drawn Cristiano Ronaldo’s ire twice this season. On Saturday 18 October, in the fifth round, Al-Nassr beat Al-Fateh 5-1 at Al-Awal Park, but Ronaldo reacted angrily when the referee whistled for offside against Al-Fateh as a counter-attack was heading his way.

Around 20 days later, on Saturday 8 November, Al-Shehri oversaw Al-Nassr’s 3-1 win against Neom at King Khalid Sports City Stadium in Tabuk in the eighth round. After the first half, Ronaldo protested a decision, then offered a sarcastic commendation of the official.

The standout fixture pits leaders Al-Nassr against bottom-of-the-table Al-Najma at Al-Awal Park.

Ronaldo is set to face Al-Shehri again on Friday in his first match since recovering from the injury that sidelined him for the past month, following Al-Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Al-Fayha in the 24th round.
