Benfica are looking to strengthen their forward line, with Reiss Nelson among the names under consideration. Valencia are also interested in the 26-year-old Arsenal winger.

According to BBC Sport, the England Under-21 international is in the final year of his Arsenal contract, which could ease a summer move. The report adds that Arsenal are open to negotiating his departure despite his return to training with the London club.

Nelson is open to continuing his career outside England and has already turned down some Premier League offers.

If he were to join Benfica, he would reunite with Marco Silva, who coached him at Fulham on loan from Arsenal in 2024/25. He made 12 appearances, scored two goals and provided one assist.

Recruiting a winger remains a priority for Benfica, and Nelson’s ability to operate on either flank has caught the club’s eye. The future of Andreas Schjelderup also remains unresolved.

Last season he featured for Brentford on loan, playing 14 competitive matches. He registered one goal and two assists in a campaign of mixed form.
