The Corinthians Ethics and Discipline Committee has received the rapporteur’s opinion in the case examining Andrés Sanchez’s alleged improper use of the club’s corporate card, with Leonardo Pantaleão recommending expulsion. According to Meu Timao, the report was completed on Wednesday afternoon. Pantaleão is also chair of the committee and vice-president of the Deliberative Council.
The submission came two days after the defence filed its final written arguments. The detailed opinion addresses points raised by the former president’s legal team and recommends his removal from the club’s membership.
Sanchez had been due to be heard on 16 March, a session postponed at his defence’s request, then cancelled after he opted against appearing. The Ethics inquiry lasted about 10 weeks, from the opening of the case on 27 January to the filing of the opinion.
The remaining committee members now have five working days to comment on the recommendation. The panel’s collective vote will then be sent to Deliberative Council president Romeu Tuma Júnior, who is responsible for scheduling the analysis and ballot.
Ethics opinions are advisory rather than binding, so councillors may vote differently. Sanctions under the statute range from archiving the case, through a warning or suspension, to expulsion from the membership.
Key steps include the Justice Committee opening an internal inquiry in August 2025 into spending since 2018, a partial report sent on 23 January 2026, and the Ethics case launched on 27 January. The process paused on 9 February then resumed on 13 February, before invoices were added on 26 February and a videoconference hearing was arranged on 10 March for 16 March. The defence later confirmed on 26 March that Sanchez would not attend, filed final arguments on six April, and the opinion was completed on eight April.
