Relief for Real Madrid as 27-year-old star is not injured; will recover in 2-3 days | OneFootball

Real Madrid succumbed to a disappointing 2-5 defeat against arch-rivals Atletico Madrid on Saturday evening, tasting their first loss of the 2025/26 season.

Apart from the bitter disappointment of the loss, Real Madrid were also left with two fresh fitness problems as both Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal came off with some physical discomforts.

Since then, Real Madrid have confirmed that Carvajal has suffered a leg injury, which is likely to keep him out for four months.

No injury to Militao

However, there is a positive update regarding Militao’s condition. According to Sergio Quirante, the 27-year-old does not have an ankle injury. But he does have a severe contusion and will need treatment and recovery for 2-3 days.

Militao picked up the knock on his ankle very early in the game when he made a strong recovery challenge on Atetico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth.

Despite being in pain and carrying discomfort, the Brazilian international played through it for the rest of the first half.

However, manager Xabi Alonso decided to take him off at the half-time break, replacing the defender with Raul Asencio.

Militao was spotted limping towards the locker room after the end of the match which had sparked concerns that he might be injured.

However, it turns out that the 27-year-old does not have an injury and is only dealing with a bruise, which should be gone in 2-3 days.

Whether it means that Militao is available to face Kairat Almaty in the UEFA Champions League in a couple of days remains to be seen.

For now, Real Madrid will be relieved that they have not lost another key defender to an injury, given that they are already without Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
