Real Madrid returned to winning ways on Sunday evening as they defeated Deportivo Alaves 1-0 in La Liga, courtesy of a Eduardo Camavinga goal.
However, things did not go according to plans for Los Blancos on the evening in Vitoria as they saw key superstar Kylian Mbappe get sent off for a rash challenge on Alaves’ Antonio Blanco.
The forward was given his marching orders in the 38th minute after a reckless high challenge catching the opponent midfielder on the shin.
Following his red card, there was concern about the length of suspension Mbappe might face as it would have jeopardised his availability for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona later this month, if he was handed a three or four-match ban.
However, now, according to journalist Isaac Fouto of COPE, Real Madrid can breathe a sigh of relief as Mbappe is expected to be handed only a one-match ban.

Indeed, the French megastar is likely to be suspended for only one match as the referee deemed in his report that the ball was in contest when the forward made his challenge on Blanco.
It would mean that Mbappe will only miss the La Liga game against Athletic Club later this weekend and will again be available to face Getafe next midweek.
Furthermore, the Real Madrid goalscorer will also be available for selection for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona set to be played on April 26 in Seville.
This will come as a major relief for Los Blancos, who have been going through quite the ordeal over the past couple of weeks, with their season hanging in the balance.
Mbappe, having already won two trophies in his first season with Real Madrid, will be focused on adding a third one by helping his team defeat Barça in the cup final.
