Relief for Real Madrid as superstar’s injury not serious; will resume training next week | OneFootball

When Kylian Mbappe asked to be taken off late on during France’s match against Azerbaijan, alarm bells went off at Real Madrid.

The Frenchman had travelled to the national team camp after picking up an ankle sprain in the league game vs Villarreal, but having recovered, started for Les Bleus, only to suffer a relapse.

It was soon confirmed that Mbappe had hurt his ankle again and would be released from the France NT camp to return to Real Madrid.

With the Clasico only a couple of weeks away, there were major concerns about Mbappe’s situation.

No serious injury

Now, according to journalist Arancha Rodriguez, Mbappe has already arrived and undergone tests in Madrid, and the results are positive.

Indeed, the 26-year-old megastar’s injury is not a serious one and in fact, he is likely to resume group training as early as next week.

This will come as a huge relief for Real Madrid, considering that Mbappe has been their biggest threat in attack this season, scoring more than half of the team’s goals in all competitions.

Indeed, the former PSG ace has already plundered 14 goals in all competitions for the club, and was able to keep his streak going with the national team as well, finding the back of the net on Friday before his substitution.

What now remains to be seen is whether Mbappe is ready in time to face Getafe after the culmination of the international break or whether Real Madrid wait to ease him back for the games against Juventus before facing Barcelona.
