Rémi Himbert injury deepens Lyon’s attacking shortage ahead of Le Havre trip | OneFootball

Rémi Himbert suffered a right ankle injury in Vigo on Thursday, leaving OL even lighter up front for Sunday’s visit to Le Havre.

The Europa League last 16 first leg finished 1-1 at Balaidos, Endrick’s strike was spilled by the Celta keeper into his own net. According to L'Équipe, Lyon’s attacking options have been shrinking week by week.

Paulo Fonseca started Roman Iaremtchouk and Endrick, with Himbert the most trusted alternative on the bench. He replaced Nicolas Tagliafico on 67 minutes, then about 20 seconds later was injured when Pablo Duran fell on his ankle.

Fonseca voiced concern afterwards but said tests in Lyon would decide the extent. Initial checks in a Vigo hospital were relatively reassuring on the sprain, with further examinations planned in France on Friday afternoon.

The 18-year-old made his first Ligue 1 start last Sunday against Paris FC, a 1-1 draw, before signing his first professional deal through 2028. He scored against PAOK in a 4-2 Europa League win on 29 January. In early March he assisted and equalised against Lens in the cup, which ended 2-2 before a 4-5 shootout loss, four days after briefly putting Lyon ahead at OM in a 2-3 defeat.

With Normandy looming, resources remain thin. Adam Karabec’s impact has been modest, Rachid Ghezzal is ineligible in Europe and has faded in 2026, while Steeve Kango impressed on debut and 17-year-old Adil Hamdani looks the likeliest creator. Lyon have leaned on the academy and await Malick Fofana, Pavel Sulc and possibly Afonso Moreira, maybe next Thursday against Celta, as a winless month stands at two draws, two defeats and one shootout exit.
