Renato assesses Vasco youngsters as academy trio make squad for Bragantino | OneFootball

At CT Moacyr Barbosa this week, Renato Gaúcho assessed several academy players with the senior group. Vasco will have youth reinforcements for Bragantino on Sunday at São Januário, 20:30 Brasília time, in the 17th round of the Brasileirão.

According to Globo.com, Bruno Lopes, Lukas Zuccarello and Walace Falcão stepped up from the under-20s after travelling with the squad to face Olimpia, and the trio will be named in Sunday's matchday list.

Of the trio, only Walace Falcão featured in Wednesday's 3-1 defeat to Olimpia, while Bruno Lopes and Zuccarello remained unused on the bench.

Renato has been running daily assessments of youth prospects and used the Copa Sudamericana group stage to test options, giving minutes to rarely used players and monitoring others for the rest of the season.

The standout case is Ramon Rique, whose performances impressed the staff and earned full promotion to the first team. The 18-year-old midfielder has moved up the pecking order under Renato, ahead of team-mates such as JP, who began on the bench in the last two Sudamericana games.
