Renato Civelli named sporting director at Defensa y Justicia in Argentina | OneFootball

Renato Civelli has been appointed sporting director at Defensa y Justicia in Argentina, more than four years after ending his playing career.

The club said in a statement that the 42-year-old will bring experience, organisational skills and a broad vision to strengthen its long-term sporting project.

The former Olympique de Marseille, OGC Nice and LOSC defender made 207 Ligue 1 appearances, including 131 for Nice between 2010 and 2013.

Based in Florencio Varela, Defensa y Justicia finished 12th in Group A in the most recent closing championship. Civelli previously turned out for Banfield, Gimnasia La Plata, San Lorenzo and Huracan, and this will be his fifth club in his home country.

The 2026 season is set to begin on 25 January, when Defensa y Justicia travel to Aldosivi.
