Rennes agree €15m deal to sign Stuttgart centre-back Anthony Rouault | OneFootball

Ligue 1 side Rennes have agreed a deal with VfB Stuttgart to sign French centre-back Anthony Rouault (23), according to L’Equipe. The 23-year-old will return to France after joining Stuttgart from Toulouse in 2023. Rouault will leave Stuttgart today to undergo his Rennes medical. The outlet adds that Rennes’ outlay to sign Rouault rises to €15m in taking into account performance-related add-ons. Rouault will then put pen to paper over a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Rouault was reportedly Rennes’ plan B should they fail to sign Kevin Danso. RC Lens rejected a €22m bid from their Ligue 1 rivals to sign the Austrian international centre-back. The 26-year-old Danso eventually joined Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday. Rouault is the second centre-back to join Rennes this winter transfer window after Brest loanee Lilian Brassier. Les Rouge et Noir host Strasbourg this Sunday for Habib Beye’s managerial Ligue 1 debut.
