Rennes reach €25m agreement with Toulouse to sign Crystal Palace target Charlie Cresswell | OneFootball

Rennes are on the verge of signing former England U21 international centre-back Charlie Cresswell (23), according to Ouest-France. The Bretons have eventually reached an agreement with Toulouse FC to sign the defender, who was also of interest for Crystal Palace. Rennes and Toulouse reportedly reached a compromise close to the €25m mark. Rennes already secured an agreement on personal terms with Cresswell.

Rennes were in the market for a young but experienced centre-back after parting ways with Academy graduate Jérémy Jacquet. The latter joined Premier League giants Liverpool in a club-record €72m deal. Rennes. Signing Cresswell is a statement of intent from Rennes, who have signed several Ligue 1-proven talents in the summer – such as Adrien Thomasson and Issa Soumaré – to bolster Franck Haise’s options. Rennes will compete in the UEFA Europa League next season.
