The Japanese midfielder joined the newly-relegated Clarets on Deadline Day from Parkhead

Burnley's summer recruit, Reo Hatate, has finally broken his silence over the recent transfer switch which took him from Celtic to Turf Moor.

It has been an extremely disappointing start to the Championship campaign for the Clarets, who are still awaiting their first league victory under Nicky Hayen.

Burnley remain the only side in the second tier without a win as we head into October, with their next chance of claiming a much-needed three points coming in just under two weeks' time when the first international break of the campaign finally reaches its end.

That is despite the fact that, as was expected, the newly-relegated side still featured high up the table in many pre-season predictions, even if there was an element of chaos to the club's pre-season preparations.

Hatate was one of 11 summer additions made in this part of the world throughout the recently-closed summer window, having moved from Parkhead on Deadline Day for a significant fee after spending four-and-a-half years with the Scottish Premiership giants.

And after completing said transfer almost four weeks ago, the 28-year-old has delivered his first words to the Turf Moor faithful despite the club's currently perilous position.

During his time with the Glasgow giants, Hatate made a total of 191 appearances, scoring 33 times and producing a further 31 assists having signed from Kawasaki Frontale under Ange Postecoglou.

The 11-time international went on to win five Scottish Premiership titles with the Hoops before completing his initial £6.5m transfer to the Championship side on September 1st, where he has since made four appearances, two of which have been starts.

With the Clarets not in action until an away clash at Watford on October 10th, the Japanese has taken to Instagram to deliver a message to his new supporters, which read: "Hi Clarets family! It's been a bit, but I wanted to share the news of my move in my own words.

"First of all, I'm truly honoured to be part of Burnley FC, a club with such a rich and proud history. I'm enjoying every day playing in a top-class environment.

"I came here to win," Hatate stated.

"I know we are going through a tough spell, but whatever the situation, what I need to do doesn't change.

"Run, fight, and attack the goal. Help the team win in any way I can.

"Give everything in every training session, every game, every action. I believe the future is built on that," he claimed.

"I'll keep challenging myself to improve and go to the next level, no matter what.

"A new journey starts here.

"I'm really looking forward to fighting for this club and my teammates, together with all of you amazing supporters.

"Let's go together. Up the Clarets."

Despite not being called up for Japan's latest squad throughout the three-week break, it could prove to be a blessing in disguise for Hatate and Burnley, as he can familiarise himself more with his new surroundings and Hayen's style of play.

Some criticism came the way of the midfielder from Celtic supporters in the comments of the aforementioned social media post, but if the Clarets are able to transform their fortunes when club action returns, then there is every chance Hatate can be a strong reason behind that with his quality and versatility.

Unsurprisingly, several question marks have surfaced over Hayen's immediate future less than three months after the 46-year-old was appointed in BB10, meaning Burnley are in desperate need of an upturn in results.

Having come into the three-week break off the back of Derby County denying them a crucial success through Mohammed Fuseini's last-gasp equaliser, the mood amongst supporters towards the head coach and owner, Alan Pace, is unsurprisingly as low as it can possibly be.
