Chelsea youngster Kendry Paez has been accused of having a lack of “professionalism” during his time at Strasburg according to reports.

The Blues originally signed Paez as a 16-year-old from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle in 2023 for around €20m.

Paez has yet to kick a ball for Chelsea, and the decision was taken to send him on loan to Strasbourg to continue his development.

However, things didn’t go to plan in France, and the teenager struggled to establish himself in the starting line-up.

Paez made 21 appearances for Strasbourg in all competitions totalling 718 minutes, and the Blues took the decision to recall him.

Paez struggled to establish himself at Strasbourg.

Argentine club River Plate have now agreed an 18 month loan deal with Paez, and he will return to South America to try and get back to his best form.

Cole Palmer has reportedly had conversations with Paez about his long term integration at Chelsea, but it appears he’s still some way from making his debut.

The South American has reportedly had off field issues, and L’Equipe have reported he lacked professionalism and often went out at night, whilst the report claims he was also poorly advised.

He’s still a teenager so there’s time to sort these reported issues out, but Chelsea will really be hoping a return to South America gets him back on track.

Chelsea to decide what to do with Aaron Anselmino

Paez isn’t the only South American who Chelsea have recalled this month, with Aaron Anselmino also recalled from Borussia Dortmund.

Anselmino put in some impressive performances for Dortmund, and Rosenior said he was due to have a conversation with the Argentine.

It’s yet to be decided if Chelsea will keep Anselmino or send him on another loan, and that’s likely to be decided by whether the Blues are able to sign Jeremy Jacquet this month.
