Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan could reportedly make the matchday squad for the upcoming clash against Roma.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, the 37-year-old has accelerated his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan injured himself during Inter’s controversial 1-1 home draw against Atalanta last month.
Therefore, Cristian Chivu didn’t have the experienced midfielder at his disposal for Inter’s trip to Florence last time out.
Unfortunately, the Nerazzurri failed to beat relegation-threatened Fiorentina, allowing AC Milan to return to the Serie A title race.
Inter’s title quest remains firmly on track, as they boast a six-point lead over the second-placed Rossoneri.
However, with eight games left to play, Chivu’s side cannot afford further slip-ups.
Indeed, they’re already on a three-game winless run in Serie A, something that last happened in 2023.
On the bright side, star striker Lautaro Martinez has resumed full training and will be in contention on Sunday.
Inter picked up just one win in four matches since losing El Toro to injury in mid-February.
Yet, with the Argentine set to return to the starting XI, the Nerazzurri will take the field in a buoyant mood.
